Cognitive Psychology (4PSYC002W)

This lecture includes an Introduction to Cognitive Psychology as well as its history, definition, examples, and information processing.

Lecture notes on a review of some of the topics covered on the Cognitive Psychology module taught at the University of Westminster. Contains notes on the portfolio assessment, the Stroop Test pen and paper vs computerised, what are the benefits of computerised experiments? computerised vs non-computerised testing, mental rotation, VVIQ and top down and bottom up processing.

Covers working memory. Includes the Information processing model, Atkinson & Shiffrin model, the working memory model, the phonological loop, the central executive system, Baddeley's model, long-term memory and forgetting, retrieval, interference, and false memories.

Providing all information about attention. Covers definition, purposes, shifts of attention, selective attention, stages of selection, listening experiments, theories of selective attention (Broadbent, Treisman, Deutch&Deutch), load theory, attended and unattended attention, and divided attention.

This is a specific list including several psychologists and key thinkers and their respective studies making it easy to find empirical studies to use for a certain argument whilst writing an essay.
